Resume keywords that get past ATS
ATS software scores your resume by matching its keywords against the job description. Use these steps without resorting to keyword stuffing.
1. Mine the job post
- Copy the posting and bold every repeated or emphasized phrase (e.g. “customer service,” “point of sale,” “bilingual”).
- Include exact titles you held and tools you used - even a short contract gig counts.
2. Place them naturally
- Repeat the top 3–5 skills in your Summary, Experience bullets, and Skills section.
- Use the employer’s wording, not synonyms (they may not score the same).
3. Stay honest
- Only list skills you can demonstrate in an interview.
- Your JobResume profile saves your real skills once and reuses them on every application.
